Lexington, Ky. - The second annual $100,000 USEF U25 Show Jumping National Championship presented by Deeridge Farms, Elm Rock LLC, the Strauss Family, and Kasowitz, Benson, Torres, & Friedman LLP is set to begin at the CP National Horse Show. Held November 3-6 in the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena, the championship will consist of three competitions with fences up to 1.50m in height. Twenty-eight athletes between the ages of 16 and 25 will compete in the championship in hopes of claiming top honors.

On Thursday, the $15,000 Faults Converted competition will kick off the championship, followed by a $20,000 Jump Off competition on Friday. The championship will be decided after the $30,000 Two Round competition on Sunday morning. The champion will be the competitor with the lowest number of penalties after the three competitions of the championship, with $35,000 in prize money for the top 10 overall.

The Individual medalists from the 2015 championship return with the aim of ending up on the podium once again. Seventeen-year-old Lucy Deslauriers (New York, N.Y.) won Gold with Lisa Deslauriers’ Hester in the inaugural edition of the championship, and they have been in fine form throughout 2016. The pair collected wins at Spruce Meadows and International Bromont over the summer and had impressive second-place finishes in the $75,000 Douglas Elliman Grand Prix Qualifier at the Hampton Classic and $86,000 American Gold Cup Qualifier.

The 2015 Silver-medal duo of Katherine Strauss (Southampton, N.Y.) and Katherine Strauss, LLC’s All In are back and looking to improve upon their performance. They competed in Europe over the summer, collecting a win at CSI2* Dinard and having several top five placings. Strauss and All in are fresh off a double-Gold-medal performance at the Neue Schule/USEF National Junior Jumper Championships and aim to continue their winning streak.

Last year’s Bronze medalist, Catherine Tyree (Chicago, Ill.), is currently the highest-ranked U25 rider eligible for the championship and looks to capitalize on a solid season. Though Mary Tyree’s Bokai is a new partner for Catherine, the pair won the $86,000 1.50m Classic at the American Gold Cup. They hope to keep up their momentum during into the championship.
