International Friesian Show Horse Association Announces Expanded Horse of the Year Program

The International Friesian Show Horse Association (IFSHA) has expanded its 2006 Horse of the Year awards and recognition program to include points earned in four new open American Driving Society- (ADS), United States Equestrian Federation- (USEF) and United States Dressage Federation-recognized competition categories.

The IFSHA board of directors is also pleased to announce the enhancement of its existing Horse of the Year program to reward those IFSHA members who compete their Friesian-bred horses in open CDE's, pleasure driving, hunter/jumper and saddleseat, as well as open dressage.

The 2006 IFSHA NEW Open Competition Horse of the Year award categories available are: In open ADS-recognized driving classes, exhibitors can utilize points earned in open CDE's and pleasure driving. In open USEF-recognized hunter/jumper classes, exhibitors can utilize points earned in hunter/jumper and equitation classes. In open USEF-recognized saddleseat classes, exhibitors are recognized for points earned in open breed saddleseat and saddleseat equitation classes.

The 2006 IFSHA/USEF Competition Friesian and Part-bred Friesian Horse of the Year Award Categories that have been enhanced to include the new 2006 USEF-recognized classes, Baroque in-hand, trail in-hand and saddleseat country pleasure, as shown (Friesians and part-bred Friesians are awarded separately):

-In-hand (Dressage, In-hand, Baroque)
-Saddle Seat (Country, Pleasure, Park)
-Hunter Pleasure and Hack
-Costume (Fantasy, Period, Armor)
-Western Pleasure and Trail
-Driving (All hitches)
-USEF Dressage (Friesian Breed Only Dressage Tests, Suitability & Hack)
-Specialty (Walk-Trot, Eng Show Hack, Tandem riding, Liberty)

2006 Junior Rider of the Year Award Categories

-Champion Junior Rider of the Year - $1,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond
-Reserve Champion Junior Rider of the Year - $500.00 U.S. Savings Bond
-Third Place Junior Rider of the Year - $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond
