More Support for the Reining Breeding Industry; National Reining Breeders Classic Creates Mare Bonus

by By the National Reining Breeders Classic | Jul 31, 2006, 12:11 PM

The always innovative National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) has announced a new program for the reining industry--the NRBC Mare Bonus.

"The NRBC has always focused on the breeding programs," noted NRBC Secretary/Treasurer Cheryl Magoteaux. "Although the emphasis is often on the stallions, mares that perform and produce are the backbone of this industry. The officers and board of directors of the NRBC are excited to create a venue where performing mares are rewarded. This will create additional value for NRBC enrolled mares and offer mares a chance to enhance their earnings records."

Beginning in 2007, owners of NRBC-enrolled stallions will have the option of enrolling their stallion in the NRBC Mare Bonus Program. By indicating their inclusion in the program and including an additional $250 enrollment payment, breeders will insure that mares by their stallion that compete in the NRBC will be eligible for the Mare Bonus. Those enrollment revenues will be augmented by the NRBC with $10,000 in additional funds to get the program started in its inception year.

The NRBC Mare Bonus will debut at the Tenth Anniversary Show, slated for April 16-22, at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, TX.

With over 275 stallions in the program and participation in the Mare bonus at the economical $250 price, it is expected that the NRBC Mare Bonus will award over $50,000 in its first year. The Mare Bonus will be paid to the highest advancing mares in the open and non-pro divisions of the National Reining Breeders Classic.

The NRBC is known for lucrative payoffs, and the checks earned at this event are already sizable. In 2006, the richest-ever event paid out well over a million dollars while maintaining its reputation as the most user-friendly event in the reining industry.

The National Reining Breeders Classic is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just nine years, the NRBC has grown to include nearly 300 subscribed stallions and over 16,000 enrolled foals. For information on the NRBC, visit www.nrbc.com or call (580) 759-3939.
