Galant Du Serein Wins Again in the CDI Freestyle at Paxton Farms

by By Christine DeHerrera | Jul 31, 2006, 1:58 AM

Horses Unlimited's Selle Francais stallion Galant du Serein and Dr. Cesar Parra won their second CDI Grand Prix Freestyle of the season at the Paxton Farm 2006 CDI***/Y Cincinnati in May. The duo also won the CDI Grand Prix. These victories came on the heels of their win at the CDI Zada Enterprises Dressage Classic Grand Prix Freestyle in Florida.

"Galant is really coming into his own and starting to demonstrate his potential in the show ring," Dr. Parra said. The pair had plans to travel to Germany in July to continue their work with Olympic Gold Medalist Hubertus Schmidt. Ideally, they will compete in a couple of shows in Europe before the WEG. Dr. Parra previously competed in the World Championships in 2002. With Galant du Serein, Dr. Parra qualified for and competed in the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2005 World Cup Finals. "These other competitions were a little early in Galant's career. He's always had the talent, but he has tended to get a little shy in the show ring. At last, he's gaining confidence and performing like he does at home and in the warm-up ring."

Other Performance Farm horses and riders also took home blue ribbons at Paxton Farms. Michael Shondel and Silver Label won their fourth level class. Shondel also placed fourth in the CDI Prix St. Georges with Wallaby.

Horses Unlimited's wunderkind Furst Fabio also displayed winning form at third level by winning his class with a 75%. "He's unusually talented, but he still has some of the young horse tension that we need to resolve, so we are taking it nice and slow with him," Dr. Parra reported.

Senior Trainer Katie Riley and her own Kamelot placed third in the USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Selection Trials for the FEI World Breeding Championships to be held in Verden, Germany.
