Welles, Cheska, Levine and Nor Lead 2006 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series Following July Competitions

The 2006 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series was jam-packed with exciting events in June and July. The series, which saw 21 events in the East Conference and 14 in the West, kicked off in February and continues through November, culminating in a year-end championship at the National Horse Show in Wellington, FL.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Junior Division
Thanks, in part, to a win in the $10,000 Pepsi Bottling Company High Junior Jumper Classic at the Lake Placid Horse Show, Julie Welles led the pack in the junior division of the East Conference. Welles, of West Simsbury, CT, had 645 points aboard Felix Des Noues. In second was Haylie Jayne of Elgin, IL, who had 580 points with Jubulent. Jayne took first place in the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Prix at the Horse Shows By The Bay Series I with another mount, Pafier.

Rounding out the top three in the series standings was Addison Phillips of New York, NY, with 495 points riding Flight.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Amateur-Owner Division
Leading the amateur owner division in the East with 545 points was Cara Cheska of Waukesha, WI, and My Fair Lady. Cheska topped the field in the $20,000 High Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic at the Circle City Equestrian 500 on another mount, King.

There was a tie for second place in the series standings following the mid-summer events. Katherine Frame of Wauwatosa, WI, aboard McGrath, and Whitney Weeks of Southport, CT, riding Subliem, had 410 points each. Frame took first place on McGrath in the Junior/Amateur Owner Show Jumping Hall of Fame class at both the Midstates Summerfest and Midstates Summer. She also sits in fourth place on her other horse, Double Delight.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Junior Division
Amber Levine of Temecula, CA, took over the lead in the junior division of the West Conference with 515 points riding Anna Karenina. In second with 305 points was Hannah Selleck of Thousand Oaks, CA, aboard Bauer, and in third was Natalie Rea of Parker, CO, who had 300 points with Noble Gesture. Rea had back-to-back wins in the Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classics at the Rocky Mountain Classic and Colorado Summer Classic.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Amateur-Owner Division
With a win in the $5,000 Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic at the Showpark Summer Festival, Josephina Nor of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, shot to the head of the amateur owner standings in the West Conference. With 510 points, Nor and her mount, Only One, led second-place rider, Fred Bauer of Millbrae, CA, who had 220 points aboard Roma M. Rounding out the top three was Dolores Cuenca of California with 190 points on Nico.

The 2006 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series is sponsored by Stadium Jumping, Inc., the Lake Placid Horse Show Association, the 2007 FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas, Practical Horseman and the Langer Equestrian Group, Inc. The Show Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL, was established in 1987 and formally opened in 1989. It was organized to promote the sport of show jumping and to immortalize the legends of the men, women and horses who have made great contributions to the sport.
