Morris Animal Foundation Offers 12 Equine Health Sponsorship Opportunities; Guide to Horse Studies Available Now

by By Heidi Jeter | Oct 17, 2006, 2:10 PM

Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) provides a unique opportunity for individuals or groups to demonstrate their love for horses by helping them via its animal health study/research sponsorships. MAF has published its 2007 directory of 101 sponsorship opportunities. All are invited to sponsor or co-sponsor with a total gift of $3,000 or more per study. Available projects include 12 studies related to the most crucial health issues for horses. Founded in 1948, 100% of MAF donations are used to fund research to protect, treat and cure the world’s animals.

Equine studies look at health issues such as bone and eye disorders, foal diseases, colic, genetics and pain management. In 2007 MAF has committed to funding $4.3 million in animal health studies. The complete list of studies can be viewed at www.MorrisAnimalFoundation.org, or a hard copy sponsorship directory can be obtained by calling (800) 243.2345.

MAF’s 2007 selection of studies is being conducted at 49 of the world’s most elite veterinary colleges, zoological institutions and scientific research centers. In addition to key facts on MAF, the sponsorship directory includes an easy step-by-step guide to sponsoring an equine health research study. The sponsorship directory also details 38 canine health research studies investigating cancer, heart diseases, eye and blood disorders, and urinary problems and 13 feline studies investigating asthma, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, heart and urinary diseases. The directory also covers studies related to gastrointestinal disorders, genetics and nutrition in llamas and alpacas.

The directory also details 36 wildlife health/study research investigations covering mountain gorillas, elephants, wild cats, foxes, wolves, fish, birds, marine life, etc. MAF is the world’s largest private source of funding for wildlife health research.
