Experience Their Spirit: Schedule for 2006 North American Friesian Horse Inspection Set

by By Bryan Quinsey | Oct 18, 2006, 2:04 AM

The Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA) is proud to announce the 2006 Friesian horse inspection circuits. Once a year the Koninklijke Vereniging Het Friesch Paarden-Stamboek (KFPS), the mother registry of the Friesian Horse in the Netherlands, sends inspectors and judges to North America. Three teams of judges will begin in the eastern United States and Canada and visit almost 30 locations during a two-week period.

All newborn foals should be presented for ranking within the registry. These rankings include first premium, second premium, third premium and no premium. The first premium ranking represents the top percentage in the registry.

Horses of all ages will be inspected, including aged mares and stallions. It is anticipated that over 1,100 horses will be inspected in 2006--a dramatic increase from previous years. The breeding process for the Dutch Friesian Horse is very much regulated. Currently there are less than 20 approved stallions in North America, and less than 100 worldwide.

Inspections are held at both public and private venues. The general public is welcome to attend any inspection. A list of dates and sites can be found on the web site. For additional information, including local contacts, please visit the FHANA web site at www.fhana.com.
