Second Annual Pony Symposium in California

The Welsh Pony and Cob Association of California, Inc. (WPCAC), is pleased to invite all interested parties to its second annual pony symposium, to be held in Stockton, CA, on February 9-11, 2007. The WPCAC's annual meeting is also on February 11, 2007, during this event. The event will be held at the Stockton Radisson Hotel, with further information available soon at www.wpcac.com. Stockton is located an hour from Sacramento and two hours from San Francisco, and has a small airport of its own.

Special guest speakers will be Len and Anne Bigley of the Quakers Farm (Llanarth Stud) Herefordshire. They will give several presentations on topics such as ridden ponies, cobs and children’s classes, judging and Mountain and Moorland breeds. Other speakers include Dr. Linda Lauper, DVM, on feeding and health of horses versus humans, Richard Gearhart on equine reproduction, Chris Marks on equine chiropractics, Dr. Debbie Elliott-Fisk on the wild ponies of Assateague Island (Chincoteague Ponies), Max Gerdes on foal care and farrier concerns, and others. Saturday’s sessions will run in two parallel tracks, with the above track of formal presentations, and an activities track aimed at youth and interested adults on drawing equines, Breyer pony painting, and how to tack up and show a pony. Wonderful meals will be provided as part of the program and will be covered under the registration fee. Hotel rooms will be available at the Radisson at a special reduced rate.
