The International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association held their 2006 International Andalusian and Lusitano National Championship Horse Show, October 17-22, at the Will Rogers Memorial Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, TX. This year, the show was held in honor of longtime breeder of Andalusian horses, Donna Hecht of Oxnard, CA, and New Orleans, LA. Managed by Whizzer and Cathi Baker of Four Winds West, the show attracted entries from all over the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Wonderful exhibitions by Medieval Times and other talented riders were directed by Joanne Asman of Asman and Associates of Los Angeles, CA, throughout the week. Talent was deep in all the performance and halter competitions, which were judged by the Judy Warner, Terri Jones-Brennan and Gene Holloway. Dressage entries were up this year with spectacular performances from training level to grand prix.
The largest class of the show, Best Movement, boasted 17 entries with Mario Contreras’ s stallion Escamillo eventually trotting off to the title with Howard Peet at the lead.
