Phillips Wins 2004 USEF Individual National Junior Jumper Championships; Zone 2 Takes Team Title

Harrisburg, PA — Making a name for herself amidst a field of 30 young riders, 15 year old Addison Phillips, of New York, NY, and her mount, Cantus Anuberth II, won the 2004 USEF Individual National Junior Jumper Championship, which took place October 14th through 16th at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. Phillips was awarded a Triple Crown custom award blanket after the win. Coming in second was 16 year old Cody Auer, of Fairfield, CT, atop Regina, followed by 14 year old Aimee Aron, of Keswick, VA, on Jamaica.

The USEF Prix de States Team Championship title was decided on October 15, with Zone 2 (NJ, NY, PA) taking the top spot in this USA Junior Olympic — Equestrian Event. The Gold medal team consisted of Addison Phillips and Cantus Anuberth II, 18 year old Gabby Slome of Riverdale, NY, and Espina du Manoir, 16 year old Blythe Marano of Bedminster, NJ, and River, and 16 year old Brianne Goutal of Manhattan, NY, and Onira. The name of this winning team will be inscribed on the Frances Newbill Rowe Memorial Trophy, named in honor of the top jumper trainer of the 1960s and 70s. Winning team riders were awarded keeper trophies and Triple Crown custom award blankets.

Taking home the Silver medal from the Championship was the Zone 1 team (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT), with 16 year old Natalie Johnson of Greenwich, CT, and Calino De Lezeaux, 14 year old Maggie McAlary of Amherst, NH, and Lulu, 15 year old Julie Welles of West Simsbury, CT, and Lapeti, and Cody Auer and Regina.

The Zone 3 team (DC, DE, MD, NC, VA, WV) rode to Bronze medal finish, with team members Aimee Aron and Jamaica, 16 year old Evan Coluccio of Middleburg, VA, and Lanciana, 17 year old Katharine Smithwick of Westminster, MD, and Buzz, and 15 year old Sloane Coles of The Plains, VA, and Cloud Nine.
