Lexington, Ky. – The Kentucky Classic CDE is set to host an elite group of drivers competing for the 2017 USEF Single Horse Combined Driving National Championship. From October 5-8, the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. will set the scene for an exciting showcase of four of the top Single Horse drivers in the country.

Leslie Berndl (Newcastle, Calif.) and her 16-year-old Royal Dutch Warmblood gelding, Uminco, competed as members of the U.S. Team in the 2016 FEI World Driving Championships for Singles at Piber Köflach in Austria. The multi-time champions of this division are returning to competition for the first time since the 2016 championships this weekend.

Donna Crookston (Saltsburg, Pa.) and her nine-year-old Dutch Harness gelding, Viktor, also competed with Berndl and the U.S. Team at last year’s world championships. This pair most recently won the CAI2*-H1 Bromont earlier this year.

Nifty Hamilton (Alva, Fla.) and nine-year-old KWPN gelding, Makari Design, owned by herself and Milton Hamilton, made an impression at their Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) debut as a duo at last year’s Little Everglades CDE in Dade City, Fla. They came out on top over the competition, claiming victory with a winning performance. They most recently won the Live Oak Plantation CAI2*-H1 in Ocala, Fla.

Daphne White (Durango, Colo.) is competing her 12-year-old Hackney mare, Halstead by Legacy, who she has had previous success with earlier in the year.

The 2015 and 2016 USEF Single Horse Combined Driving National Champion Suzy Stafford and her 10-year-old Morgan mare, PVF Peace of Mind, will not be in attendance to defend their title due to scheduling conflicts.
