Saddlebred Community Mourns Crabtree and Waggoner

Crabtree was recently inducted into the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) Breeders Hall of Fame in February 2007. Other honors during his life include induction into the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show Hall of Fame, United Professional Horsemen’s Association (UPHA) Hall of Fame and recipient of the United States Equestrian Federation Pegasus Medal of Honor. Crabtree was also a past president of UPHA and a life member of the American Saddlebred Museum. Among his World’s Champion Saddlebreds were CHYorktown, CHLa La Success (BHF) and Supreme Airs (BHF).

A memorial service for Crabtree will be held Thursday, April 19, at 4 p.m. at Shannon Funeral Home, 1124 West Main Street, Shelbyville, KY, 40065. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Saddlebred Museum.

Ellis Waggoner was inducted into the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show Hall of Fame in 2001. He was a life member of UPHA and the American Saddlebred Museum as well as a member of ASHA.

Visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 20, at Pearson's Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY, 40207. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be sent to the American Lung Association or the American Saddlebred Museum.
