Lexington, Ky. – New to the Pegasus Awards celebratory evening, the 2018 Intercollegiate and Interscholastic Equestrian Team Awards will be presented Thursday evening, January 10 at US Equestrian’s Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Fla. US Equestrian’s Pegasus Awards honor some of the great men and women of equestrian sport, including the Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Equestrian of the Year, Junior Equestrian of the Year, Youth Sportsman Award, and many other prestigious honors.
The 2018 Intercollegiate and Interscholastic Equestrian Team award winners demonstrated their excellence in USEF-affiliated collegiate and scholastic organizations in 2018, and will be recognized for their achievements and success during Pegasus night.
The following teams have earned a 2018 Intercollegiate Award:
- ANRC National Intercollegiate Equitation Overall Team Champion: Savannah College of Art and Design
- IDA National Championship Team: Intermont Equestrian at Emory and Henry
- IHSA Collegiate Cup Hunter Seat Team Champion: Skidmore College
- ISSRA Championship Team: University of Kentucky
- NCEA National Championship: Auburn University
- USEA Eventing Championship Team: Auburn University
The following team has earned a 2018 Interscholastic Award:
- IEA Champion Upper School Hunter Seat Team: Lucky C Stables
US Equestrian is proud to introduce the men and women who are recipients of 2018 Pegasus Awards. The following awards are bestowed annually to equestrians for their service to the sport. This year’s recipients are as follows:
USEF Lifetime Achievement Award: Georgie Green
Walter B. Devereux Sportsmanship Award: Anne Gribbons
Richard E. McDevitt Award of Merit: Harry Chapman, Hunter Harrison, Yum Kee Fu, Michael Rhenhemier, and J. Richard Wilkinson
Pegasus Medals of Honor: Ellen DiBella, Janine Malone, Debbie McDonald, and Robert Ridland
Ellen Scripps Davis Memorial Breeders Award: Allyn McCracken
Youth Sportsman’s Award: Clea Cloutier
The USEF/EQUUS Foundation Humanitarian Award will be announced at a later date. The 2018 Junior Equestrian of the Year will be announced in mid-December, while the Sallie Busch Wheeler Trophy will be awarded at the USEF Pegasus Awards Ceremony at Annual Meeting.
The 2018 Equestrians of Honor and 2018 Horses of Honor will be announced in mid-December and voting will open to the US Equestrian membership.
