Hollywood Dun It Reaches Five Million Dollar Sire Milestone

by By Kathy Damrill | Apr 18, 2007, 4:38 AM

Hollywood Dun It has done it! The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Hall of Fame Inductee and All-Time Leading Sire’s offspring just surpassed five million dollars in earnings. Hollywood Dun It’s offspring earnings now total $5,022,984.98. This is one more Hollywood Dun It accomplishment that will go down in the NRHA history books. The earnings of Hollywood Dun It’s get have broken one record after another and now the legendary sire becomes the very first NRHA Five Million Sire. It is difficult to pinpoint the exact horse that put Hollywood Dun It over the $5-million mark because of the numerous offspring competing at events. The search for this will continue and could be announced at a later date.

Now deceased, the celebrated sire was owned by McQuay/Easton, LLC, a partnership comprised of NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Tim McQuay and his wife Colleen McQuay of Tioga, TX, along with partner Jennifer Easton of St. Mary’s Point, MN. Colleen McQuay expressed her appreciation to those breeders and trainers who placed their trust in Hollywood Dun It’s bloodline. “The reason ‘Dun It’ has been able to reach this milestone is because of the mare owners and the people who have shown his foals and for that we are grateful.”

Whether ridden by a professional, non pro or youth, Hollywood Dun It offspring have been stellar in the sport of reining. His foals have won many prestigious reining events, including the NRHA Futurity, the NRHA Derby and Superstakes, the All American Quarter Horse Congress Futurity and the National Reining Breeders Classic. They’ve qualified and won Gold medals in International Equestrian Federation, United States Equestrian Team and United States Equestrian Federation competitions and earned breed association world championships as well. Hollywood Dun It get can be found in the winner’s circle virtually worldwide. Outside of the show pen, “Dun Its” are prized by owners and breeders and are making their mark through their own get and produce.

Hollywood Dun It (Hollywood Jac 86 x Blossom Berry) passed away two years ago at the age of 22 in 2005. At that time, Tim McQuay said the decision to put him down was a difficult one. McQuay noted, “He’s been a part of our family, and a part of our lives, for a lot of years. None of us wanted him to suffer.”

Colleen McQuay added, “I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to stand to put another horse in that stall.” To this day, two years later, Hollywood Dun It’s stall remains empty as a memorial to the beautiful buckskin sire with a long flowing black mane and tail.

Without a doubt, there are more records to be broken by Hollywood Dun It offspring—more additions to the NRHA record books. His legacy continues.

The memory of Hollywood Dun It is also kept alive through a vision of Vaughn Zimmerman’s. He commissioned a painting of Hollywood Dun It by equine artist Sherrill Brooke. The painting was donated by Brooke, Zimmerman and Jerry Kimmel. The original painting graces the NRHA office...sales from limited edition, signed and numbered prints benefit the Reining Horse Sports Foundation.
