National Reining Horse Youth Association’s Regional Clinic Series Features Many National Reining Horse Association Professionals

by By Kathy Damrill | Apr 24, 2007, 9:40 AM

The National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) announces seven new regional training clinics across the United States. The clinics are designed to help reining enthusiasts learn from some of the best trainers in the reining business.

The Regional Clinic Series is open to all riders—youth and adults. Non-National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) members are also invited to attend and learn what the NRHA has to offer. Proceeds from the clinics benefit the youth association and its programs. A percentage of the proceeds will help fund the youth awards at each of the NRHA Regional Affiliate Finals.

Chair of the NRHA Youth Committee Walter Fuchs says he’s encouraged by last year’s participation. “Our first youth clinic was held last year, and it turned out to be a huge success. We are really excited about the regional clinics this year. Many of our top NRHA trainers have graciously donated their time to help with the clinics this year,” Fuchs added. “We are looking forward to be able to raise a significant amount of money for the Youth association. I’m sure it will be a wonderful opportunity for the people that take advantage of these very talented clinicians.”

The Regional Clinic Series kicks off on June 3, with the Mountain Regional Clinic at the Pueblo State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, CO. NRHA Professional Steve Schwartzenberger will be the featured trainer. Mark your calendars for the South Central Regional Clinic. It will take place on June 16 and 17 at McQuay Stables in Tioga, TX. NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Tim McQuay, NRHA One Million Dollar Rider Tom McCutcheon and NRHA Professional Scott McCutcheon will provide the training.

The Southeast Regional Clinic will be hosted by professional trainer Francois Gauthier and NRHA Professionals Bryant Pace, Brian Bell, and Mike McEntire. This clinic will take place on July 11 at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center in Williamston, NC.

Both the North Central and Northwest Regional Clinics will be held on July 21. The North Central Regional Clinic will be held in Leland, IL, at Villa Farm. It will feature NRHA Professionals Corey Hendrickson and Dan Huss. Also on July 21, the featured trainer at the Northwest Regional Clinic will be Darren Stancik at Rhodes River Ranch in Arlington, WA. The Southwest Regional Clinic will be held on July 28, in Carbondale, CO, at Skyline Ranch. NRHA Professional Troy Heikes will provide his reining knowledge at that clinic.

The Regional Clinic Series wraps up on August 18 and 19 with the Northeast Regional Clinic. NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Shawn Flarida will be the featured trainer at the Eden Park Equestrian Complex in Sunbury, OH.

The clinics will begin at 8:00 am and end after 5:00 pm. The cost per day for the training clinics and lunch is $150 for youth riders and $200 for adults. Auditing for all sessions is available for $25.

Space is limited, so please contact NRHA Supervisor of Youth Programs, Mandy Kennedy, at [email protected] or call (405) 946-7400, ext. 130, to reserve your spot.
