Paint Horse Breeders Trust Awards Record Amount for 2006

by By Kayla Starns | Mar 1, 2007, 7:00 AM

The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) announced the payout results of its 2006 Breeders Trust program—a record-setting $1,072,150.82. This figure is more than $28,000 over the previous record amount, set the year before.

This will mark the fourth consecutive year that the incentive for registered Paint Horse owners, exhibitors, racers and breeders has topped $1 million. Enrolled horses received $14.72 for every APHA performance, racing or halter point they earned during 2006.

“Paints enrolled in the Breeders Trust incentive program have proven themselves a very valuable commodity,” said APHA Breeders Trust Coordinator Candy Cain. “With such a lucrative opportunity to earn added money, many industry professionals are actively seeking out these horses.”

The Number One horse by money earned for 2006 is Dunthat Benthere, a 1996 red dun overo gelding by Tommys Reflection and out of Impressive Ash Bar AQHA and owned by Amanda Ringer of Grand Island, FL. The first-time Breeders Trust leading money-earner received the distinction by collecting 1,370 points throughout 2006, and ended the year with $20,167.32 in incentive money.

For the sixth consecutive year, the stallion that sired the most money-earning Breeders Trust foals was Zippos Sensation, a 1993 sorrel overo stallion owned by Simons Show Horses, LLC, of Aubrey, TX. Eighty-five of his foals earned a total of $88,941.94 during 2006.
