North American Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program to Sponsor Incentive Awards Program for 2007 Young Jumper Championship Series

by By Sandra Werkheiser | Mar 20, 2007, 10:23 AM

The North American Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program (JBP) committee is pleased to announce a new awards sponsorship for the top placing Hanoverians in the 2007 Young Jumper Championships. The purpose of the awards is to provide an added incentive for owners of Hanoverian show jumpers to compete their horses in the Young Jumper Championship Series, a well-established national jumping competition recognized by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), which officially ranks all horses competing in these age divisions.

A trophy, sponsored by American Hanoverian Society (AHS) member Judy Hedreen of Sylvan Farm in Snohomish, WA, will be awarded annually in each of the five-, six- and combined seven- and eight-year-old classes as determined by the USEF national year-end rankings. If no Hanoverian places in the top 20 nationally in any category, a trophy will not be awarded in that category. To be eligible, horses must carry a Hanoverian foal brand and have registration papers issued by the AHS and/or the Verband hannoverscher Warmblutzuechter e.V. Horse and owner must also reside in North America.

A cooperative effort between the AHS and the two regional Hanoverian breeding clubs in Canada, the North American Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program is intended to promote the breeding of high-quality Hanoverian show jumping horses in North America. The Jumper Breeding Program is based in part on the successful experience of the Programm Hannoveraner Springpferdezucht (PHS) in Germany, which was created in 1993 by the Hanoverian Verband to recognize, promote and market the breeding of Hanoverian show jumpers.

Mares and stallions are selected for participation in the program based on stringent pedigree and performance requirements. Qualified mares are encouraged to be bred to stallions that have also been selected for the program. The AHS maintains a current directory of mares and stallions included in the Jumper Breeding Program, as well as a list of requirements and an application for entry on the society’s website at www.hanoverian.org.

For further details, please contact the AHS Central Office at (859) 255-4141 or via e-mail at [email protected]. In Canada, additional information may be obtained from the Hanoverian Breeders Club of Eastern Canada at (416) 239-0624 or www.hanoverianbreedersclub.com, or the Hanoverian Breeding Club of Western Canada at (403) 931-4886 or www.canadianhanoverians.com.
