LEXINGTON, Ky. – The World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc., the organization responsible for planning and executing the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, today announced that Anne Buchanan has been promoted to director of administration. Buchanan is one of the two original employees who began working for the Foundation more than a year ago.
“Anne has been a key member of our staff since the beginning and has demonstrated very strong administrative abilities, which are crucial to our success,” stated Jack Kelly, CEO of the Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to recognize both her present and anticipated contributions.”
As Director of Administration, Buchanan will be responsible for directing and conducting a whole range of administrative duties as well as overseeing other ones such as Equine Entertainment, Horsesport Organization Relations and Special Projects. She will also contribute her perspective to a number of other Games functions.
Prior to joining the World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc, Anne worked for Team Valor, an international racing syndicate based in Versailles, Kentucky. At Team Valor, she coordinated the international movement of racehorses and other clients. While there she gained valuable experience with transport companies, veterinarians from many countries, as well as quarantine regulations and facilities.
“I am delighted to expand my role within the World Games 2010 Foundation,” stated Ms. Buchanan. “It is both a privilege and an honor to participate, in a meaningful way, in the perpetuation of Kentucky’s horse economy, and to the growth of the equine industry in the United States through the 2010 Games.”
Buchanan has also served as Field Director for the Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP). An award-winning educator and popular speaker, she has traveled to all of Kentucky’s counties, as her main role at KEEP involved public appearances/promotional speaking, organizing and staffing events and interacting regularly with equine professionals of all trades and disciplines.
The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, are the world championships of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the FEI, and are held every four years. The Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site— both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $150 million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 spectators will attend the 16-day competition.
