Ann Crick Badgett, of Madisonville, KY, formerly of Greenville, KY, died on Monday, May 7, 2007, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. She was 63.

Badgett was born August 23, 1943 in Calhoun, KY, to Chester and Elizabeth Muster Hile. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jerry Lee Crick, on June 20, 1989; and her second husband, J. Rodgers Badgett, on June 6, 2005. She is survived by her two daughters, Cara Meadows of Hendersonville, TN, and Reagan Robertson of Destin, FL, and two grandchildren.

Badgett showed horses in the late 1970s and early ‘80s, including Reserve World’s Champion CH April Hills Red Gold and CH Stonewall’s High Noon. Both her first husband, Crick, and her father-in-law, Jack Crick, also owned and showed Saddlebreds. The family’s Top Hat Stables in Greenville had World’s Champions CH The Supreme Sunrise, CH Spencer County and 1967-69 Three-Gaited World’s Grand Champion CH Bellisima at one time or another during each horse’s show career.

Badgett was also an artist, probably best known for her painting “Three Wishes,” which was given to the Junior Judging contest winner at the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show for many years.

Education was another area in which Badgett was involved during her life. She served on the Greenville School Board from 1984-1986. She was then a member of the Muhlenberg County Board of Education from 1986-1992. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School and the University of Kentucky.
