Record setting crowds were in attendance at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky, April 26–29, for this year’s Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Farnam. “Farnam is proud to be the presenting sponsor for the third consecutive year of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, the only four-star event in the Western hemisphere,” said Chris Jacobi, Senior Vice President of Farnam Horse Products. “It is a great pleasure to align our company and its products with the United States Equestrian Federation and such a prestigious event.”
In addition to presenting trophies to the second- and third-place winning horses and riders—Phillip Dutton, riding Connaught and Karen O’Connor riding Theodore O’Connor—Jacobi presided over the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Farnam’s first horse product, Repel-X®, and the second annual Grooms Party.
The 50th Anniversary Celebration for Repel-X brand fly spray was held Friday evening, April 27, 2007, following the final day of dressage competition. Dozens of VIPs in the horse world and members of the media were on hand to toast to the continued performance of Repel-X. Bill Johnson, who introduced Repel-X five decades earlier and retired from Farnam last year after 54 years of service, provided reminiscences of the product’s introduction and led the group in a stirring rendition of “Happy Birthday to Repel-X,” Farnam’s first horse product. This was followed by Jacobi and Johnson cutting a large cake in the shape of the original Repel-X can.
Farnam hosted the second annual Grooms Party on Saturday evening, April 28, 2007, following the day’s cross-country event. This event is held each year to acknowledge and honor the valuable contribution made by the grooms and other supporting members of the riding teams who compete in this demanding competition.
“Our commitment to the equine industry is demonstrated by our participation in these events,” said Jacobi. “This venue also provides us with a platform for showcasing our extensive product lines—products that were developed to meet the exacting needs of the horses and their riders who compete in such a challenging event.”
