Gene Mische, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stadium Jumping, announced that John Canavan has been appointed as president of Stadium Jumping. Canavan's appointment was approved by Stadium Jumping's board of directors. In addition, the board also re-elected Mische as the chairman of the board and chief executive officer, reconfirming its commitment to Mische's leadership.

As president, Canavan will be responsible for all administrative and business aspects for Stadium Jumping's growing business needs impacted by the highly anticipated move to its new location. He will focus a great deal of his time on assisting Mische with the company's construction and relocation of the showgrounds in its new location, scheduled for 2008. The new Stadium Jumping facilities are slated to become one of the most significant equestrian arenas and equestrian facilities in North America.

"I am confident John will bring a tremendous amount of business expertise to Stadium Jumping, especially as we embark on this exciting journey to our new location," said Mische. "Over the past few weeks, we have received a tremendous outpouring of support for this project and its benefit to the sport, horse welfare, equestrian competitors and spectators, and the economic impact to Wellington and Palm Beach County. I am confident that John will continue to help us build this support as he becomes intricately involved in the continued development of Stadium Jumping's future in Wellington."

"This is a tremendous opportunity," said Canavan about his appointment. "Stadium Jumping has an outstanding reputation in the industry, built by Gene over many years of dedicated and passionate service to the equestrian industry. I am honored to be working with him and the entire team of professionals at Stadium Jumping. Together, we will create the next successful chapter in Stadium Jumping's proud future."

Canavan has over thirty years of senior management and strategic planning experience in a variety of industries, including consumer products, consumer and business services and healthcare. He began his career as a senior auditor at Deloitte & Touche in Newark, NJ, and then moved to Montvale, NJ, where he served in a variety of management roles for nearly a decade at Grandmet USA, Inc. In the mid-90s, Canavan became director of acquisitions at Omnicare, a $2-billion pharmacy services provider in Cincinnati, OH. He most recently led Strategic Growth Advisors, LLC, in Buffalo, NY, as a principal, and was also a member of the board of directors for Healthnow, Inc., a 900,000 member health plan, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
