At this year's prestigious Upperville Colt and Horse Show, Shawn Casady of Tennessee had a phenomenal week. Casady trains with Bill Schaub at Over the Hill Farm of Sanford, FL. Casady rode seven ponies to ribbons and tricolors and was named the Best Child Rider on a Pony this year.
In the Small Pony Hunter division, Casady rode Blue Crush for owner Annastelle Cohen. Blue Crush won two classes and was named the champion of the division. Casady won the Medium Pony Hunter championship on Dark Star, a Kathleen Mahoney-owned entry. Also in the Medium Ponies, Casady rode Unexpected, owned by Jimmy and Danielle Torano, to ribbons in every class. Casady was first, third and fifth in the Green Pony Hunters on Katie Dinan, LLC's, First Impression.
Casady rode three ponies in the Large Pony Hunter division. Cedar Springs Pen Pal, owned by Tyler Green, was second, third, fourth, fifth and fifth, while Anne Gardner's Showboat was third and fourth. Grey Goose, a Far Niente, LLC-owned entry, was third, fourth and fifth as well.
"Shawn had a fantastic week," said Schaub. "He has been riding excellently this whole year and just keeps improving."
Lee Cesery of Jacksonville, FL, piloted What D'Ya Know to top ribbons in the Amateur Owner Over 35 Hunters. What D'Ya Know is last year's USEF Horse of the Year in that division. Cesery also guided Couverture to ribbons in the same division.
Another ribbon winner in the older Amateur Owner Hunters was Mary Barben on Graphic.
Over the Hill Farm shows next at the Atlanta Summer Classic Horse Show series in Conyers, GA, on June 20-July 1, 2007.
