ASHA to renew American Saddlebred Horse Register

by By Reeves Kirtner, ASHA | Nov 18, 2004, 10:07 AM

The American Saddlebred Horse Association has not published an official register since 1988. That will all change in 2005.

ASHA has teamed with Harris Publishing to release the American Saddle Horse Register for all registered foals in 2004. Each horse will be listed with his or her registration number, foaling date, city and state of breeding, as well as the first, second and third sires and dams. The publication will also include the names of the more than 45,000 Saddlebreds that have been registered since the last time the register was published in 1991, which included horses registered in 1988.

The book will be published in December 2005 and will include a number of other features as well, such as a biographical section of every ASHA member that will detail each member's name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Members can also include information on personal clubs, disciplines, family members and up to five horses (with registration numbers) which he or she owns.

Members can also be listed in a separate equine specialty section. Equine specialties include trainer, breeder, farrier, barn/stable manager, hay/feed provider, equine tack provider, certified riding instructor, equine appraisal, equine insurance, equine/rider apparel provider, equine/rider photographer, equine transportation, barn construction, equine dentist, equine retailer and veterinarian. Members can choose up to two specialties to be listed under. Harris Publishing will contact members to verify the information through postal mail, e-mail and telephone.

All of ASHA bylaws, dates to remember and other information will also be included at the front of the book. More information will be provided as this project moves forward with ASHA and Harris Publishing. The price of the book will later be determined by Harris Publishing, who will also sell and distribute the book. ASHA members should expect to be contacted by Harris Publishing as production begins.
