The United States Tent Pegging Association (USTPA) will be holding selection trials for eligible riders to compete for a position on the USTPA international competition team.
Those selected for the team will be representing the United States at FEI-sanctioned events overseas and in the continental United States.
Tent Pegging is an International Equestrian Federation (FEI) recognized discipline and one of the more popular high-performance equestrian sports worldwide. For information on Tent Pegging, visit Tentpeggingusa.org
Persons wishing to qualify must:
-Be 21 years of age
-Possess a valid, current U.S. passport or be able to obtain one
-Be in good physical health
-Own or have access to suitable horses and tack
-Have the ability to purchase swords and lances used in competition
The USTPA selection trials will be a test of basic riding skills, adaptability to new horses and the potential to handle weapons while mounted at advanced gaits.
The Selection trials will be held at the Crockett Equestrian Center in Bowie, TX, on or about January 15, 2005. If selected, the rider can expect to be active in international competition by mid-2005.
