Platform® Shetland Pony Congress Show Offers Free Admission and Family Fun

by By Johnny Robb | Jul 25, 2007, 10:43 AM

The 2007 Platform® American Shetland Pony National Championship Congress show is set to kick off August 1-4 at the Gordyville Arena in Gifford, IL. Last year’s Shetland Pony Congress show drew almost 500 entries from all over the United States. “Shetland ponies are very versatile and compete in a variety of competitions, and the best-of-the0best go head-to-head each year at this Congress Championship show,” said American Shetland Pony Club Director of Operations Zona Schneider.

Shetland ponies will compete throughout the day in jumping, driving, halter and youth classes. Admission is free and spectators can enjoy ringside viewing and close interaction with the ponies and their owners. Favorite classes for spectators include the costume classes, the fast-paced roadster driving classes and the liberty classes, where the ponies are set free to strut their stuff to music.

“This year’s show will be especially exciting as we are taping the show highlights for a TV show that will air on RDF-TV this October,” said Johnny Robb. The Platform® Shetland Pony Congress highlights are scheduled to air on RFD-TV on October 14, 2007 at 4 p.m. (EST).

“We are also pleased to be partnered with Farnam Companies Platform® Feed as our title sponsor this year. They have lots of surprises planned for the show,” said Robb.

The American Shetland Pony Club will also host a hospitality booth throughout the show and provide free information and brochures on American Shetland Ponies. There will also be vendors offering everything from t-shirts to plush toy ponies, and refreshments are available on the show grounds. “It’s affordable fun for the whole family, and spectators and local media representatives are encouraged to come,” said Schneider.
