Shawn Cassidy Dominates Pony Hunter Divisions at Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show I

Shawn Cassidy of Kingston, TN, was the one to beat in the pony hunter divisions at the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show I. The 84th Annual Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show was held from August 1-5, 2007, at the L.M. Tate Horse Show Grounds at the Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve in Blowing Rock, NC.

In the Small/Medium Green Pony Hunter division, Cassidy rode First Impression, owned by Katie Dinan, LLC, to the championship with three firsts and two seconds. Cassidy earned both the tricolor and reserve in the Medium Pony Hunters aboard Unexpected and Dark Star, respectively. Dark Star is owned by Kathleen Mahoney. Cassidy and Unexpected, owned by Jimmy and Danielle Torano, also earned seventh place in the $10,000 Kathryn G. Clark Challenge of Champions Classic. In the Large Pony Hunters, Cassidy earned both the championship and reserve riding Showboat and Watch Me, respectively. Cassidy rode Watch Me, owned by Robert Hunt, earned two firsts, two thirds and a fourth on their way to the reserve championship. Showboat is owned by Anne Gardner.

Lauren Hogan piloted her Between Dreams to victory in the 15 & Under Large Junior Hunters. The pair earned two firsts, two seconds and a seventh en route to earning the division's tricolor.

Katie Hogan swept the Children's Jumper division, winning two classes and the NAL/WIHS Children's Jumper Classic on her Blew by You.

The WCHR-sanctioned show was also the final show for the Southeast region. Cassidy won the Southeast Pony section while Over the Hill's Sophie Read, of Lake Mary, FL, won the Southeast Children's section. Lauren Hogan earned second place in the Junior Hunter section.
