SmartPak Introduces Two Unique New Blogs for the Equine Industry

by By Rebecca Bennett | Oct 4, 2007, 10:42 AM

SmartPak announced that they have joined the blogosphere with two new blog forums—Ask the Vet and A Peek at the Pak.

"Blogging is a perfect fit for SmartPak because as a company, we are all about sharing our culture and personality, while also providing horse owners with the most up-to-date horse health care information," said President Paal Gisholt. "Our employees are horse and dog owners, too, and they’re excited to share their experiences with our customers.”

A Peek at the Pak will allow customers to take a "peek" inside the lives of several SmartPak employees, including product specialists, a photography manager, an IT project manager and founder Becky Minard. The personalities of the people that work at SmartPak will be represented in stories and pictures included in each blog.

As a first in the equine industry, the Ask the Vet blog takes a Q&A approach that allows readers to be directly involved. Readers will be able to post questions about their horse’s health and Staff Veterinarian Dr. Lydia F. Gray will use her vast expertise to offer up suggestions and detailed information. But the blog’s content won’t just be limited to questions and answers. It will also include relevant articles, links and up-to-date information related to horse health.

Although just launched, the Ask the Vet blog has already gotten numerous posts. Early topics have included “What to Feed an Insulin-Resistant Pony,” “How to Slim Down an Overweight Horse” and “Recovery Options for a Horse with EPM.”

“With the Ask the Vet blog we’ll get greater insight into the aspects of horse care that our customers have the most questions about,” said Minard. “We’ll be able to use that information to build up content on our website and our product line to better fit the needs of our customers.”
