The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP), a statewide horse industry alliance, announced plans to hold a stallion season auction. The event is set for Friday, December 7, 2007. KEEP will offer breeding rights from many of Kentucky’s premiere breeding operations. These include Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Quarter Horses, American Saddlebreds and many other breeds.
“KEEP hosted a successful auction in 2004 that helped us raise funds right after our organization was created. We used those funds for our ’Horses Work’ promotional campaign to raise awareness of our organization and to develop our grassroots outreach to build statewide membership,” said Brereton Jones, KEEP Chairman. “We are asking all stallion owners of every breed to make a donation of a 2008 breeding for each of their stallions. There will be both a live and a silent auction. The funds raised will again help us continue promoting the importance of the horse to Kentucky’s economy and push for legislation critical to our industry.”
The December 7 event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Patterson Ballroom in Lexington. The price to attend the event is $300 per couple and $175 for individual tickets. Invitations will be sent to the equine community, but the 7 p.m. event is open to the public.
