The United States Eventing Association (USEA) will again host the ICP Jumping Symposium in Florida, this year on January 28, to be followed by an Eventing Judges Dressage Continuing Education Clinic and a Young Event Horse (YEH) Judging Seminar on January 29 and 30.
All three days are open to the public at Betsy Watkins' Longwood South in Ocala. Anyone interested—riders, owners, breeders, instructors, judges—is welcome. The ICP Jumping Symposium will focus on teaching and riding over show jumping coursework with appropriate balance, impulsion, line and pace. The Dressage Judges Clinic will provide continuing education credit for eventing officials as well as offer valuable insight to all riders and trainers. The YEH program will be an outstanding educational experience for people in all these roles, and will emphasize the jumping/galloping part of the Young Event Horse test. All those wishing to be included on the Young Event Horse Judges' list for 2008 will be given credit for attending this symposium.
The tentative schedule is as follows:
January 28, 2008 – ICP Jumping Symposium with hunter/jumper instructor/trainer John Madden as lead presenter and with Richard Jeffery setting and explaining lines of related show jumping fences.
January 29, 2008 – Eventing Judges Dressage Continuing Education Clinic with dressage judge and instructor Linda Zang as lead presenter.
January 30, 2008 – YEH Judging Seminar with lead presenter Martin Plewa, an "O" three-day event judge and top rider/trainer/young sport horse judge from Germany.
The fee schedule is as follows:
*per day fee for judges and ICP-certified instructors: $45
*per day fee for all other spectators: $70
*fee for riding in one session: $25
*There is no half-day fee and no difference between pre- and on-site payment fee.
Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase on site all three days from B&T's BBQ, which includes vegetarian selections on its menu.
