The American Association of Equine Practitioners Foundation, Inc., recognized Ashlee E. Watts, DVM, of Ithaca, NY, as the recipient of the 2007 AAEP Foundation Research Fellow on December 3 during the AAEP 53rd Annual Convention in Orlando, FL. The scholarship, in the amount of $5,000, emphasizes the importance of equine research and is awarded to a researcher who is completing a residency or graduate program while conducting equine research.
Dr. Watts is currently a resident in Large Animal Surgery at Cornell University. She received her DVM from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Ft. Collins, CO. After completing her residency at Cornell University, Dr. Watts will begin a PhD program in the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences at Cornell University with a concentration in cellular and molecular medicine.
The AAEP Foundation established the Research Fellow in 2006. The scholarship is made possible through the monetary contributions of AAEP past presidents.
