James R. Wolf has been selected by the USEF to assume the leadership of the Federation’s High Performance discipline programs as the Executive Director of High Performance. He had been serving as Interim Executive Director.

Jim has many years of administrative and competitive experience in horse sports. Prior to joining the USEF staff full-time, he managed the USET’s three-day eventing squad at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, where he was responsible for the coordination of the training and preparation for the team. He has served as the USET/USEF Director of Eventing since 1993 and has been responsible for the development, planning and facilitation of all areas of the USEF Eventing Program. Since 1994 he has been the Team Leader for the U.S Eventing Teams at all the World Equestrian Games, Pan American Games and Olympic Games as well as the European Open Championships. Since 1995 he has also served as Chef de Mission for the entire United States equestrian delegation at the Olympic, Pan American and World Equestrian Games.

“We could not possibly find a more experienced and effective person to serve in this position,” said John Long, Chief Executive Officer of the USEF. “Jim has done a terrific job managing our Eventing and international games activities, and he has always done it with passion, patience and an understanding of the needs of the many people involved. Equally important, Jim has the long-term vision and a strategic view of the future marketing possibilities of horse sports in this country.”

At their annual convention this month the United States Eventing Association’s (USEA) awarded Jim their Wofford Trophy. Described by Jo Whitehouse, Executive Director of the USEA, as “the most prestigious award that we have,” the trophy is given annually to the non-riding person who has contributed the most to the sport of Eventing.

Jim will remain in the Gladstone, NJ, office of the USEF and assumes this position effective immediately.
