by By Jennifer Wood | Feb 22, 2008, 12:35 PM

The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC), based in the heart of downtown Buffalo, NY, is pleased to announce that they will offer a series of horse shows this year at their facility. The BTRC Series has scheduled five dates for horse shows, plus the "AA" rated Buffalo International Horse Show. In addition to great competitions, the BTRC will once again host a three-day clinic with renowned horseman and trainer George H. Morris, the current United States Show Jumping Chef d'Equipe.

The 2008 horse show dates are:
- April 19-20
- May 3-4
- September 13-14
- Buffalo International Horse Show - September 17-21
- October 18-19
- November 16-17

The George Morris Clinic will run from November 7-9, 2008. There will be three groups available for riders: intermediate, advanced and Jumper. The clinic is limited to a certain number of riders, so please contact the BTRC early to get your spot. Auditing spots will also be available.

The BTRC Series will award series championships and high score awards in divisions ranging from Baby Green Hunter to Novice Children's Hunter to Non-Pro Jumper. They will award year-end coolers, championship ribbons and reserve championship ribbons.

The Buffalo International Horse Show, which is held each September over five days, is a long-standing tradition in the Northeast. This year is the 62nd edition of the horse show, and it attracts some of the world's finest riders.

All proceeds from these events benefit the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center. The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc., The Buffalo Equestrian Center and SBS Farms, Inc., reside on the five-acre site, which includes the indoor sand 120x90 riding arena, stables, paddocks and a top-of-the-line outdoor riding ring. The historic barn offers permanent stalls for all horse show participants.

The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center has been the site of a therapeutic riding program for six years. The BTRC currently offers programs for mentally and emotionally impaired, learning disabled and developmentally challenged children ages six to 16. Programs are designed and taught by Libby McNabb, an instructor registered with the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, Inc. (NARHA) and with Special Olympics. Volunteers are always needed and are an invaluable part of the program. They can assist with horse care and handling or can serve as a friend and side walker.
