Like Father, Like Son: Judgement Call Follows in Sire's Winning Footsteps

While Judgement ISF has been known primarily for his own performance career, including winning the $1,000,000 CN International at Spruce Meadows, his offspring are also starting to show their true colors. In 2007, several of Judgement’s offspring brought home big awards. Judgement’s tobiano pinto son Judgement Call took the championship for Best Performance and Reserve Champion for Type at the International Jumper Futurity Finals Eastern Regional, held at the Duke Children’s Hospital Benefit in Raleigh, NC. Judgement Call’s victory was a like father, like son moment, as Judgement ISF was the winner of the International Jumper Futurity Midwest Regionals in 1995.

“We’ve always been proud of Judgement’s accomplishments and now Judgement Call is following in his father’s footsteps,” said Mary Alice Malone, owner of Iron Spring Farm. “It is wonderful to see the next generation of American-bred horses becoming so successful.”

Grand prix rider Laurie Jakubauskas of Kennett Square, PA, was aboard the four-year-old Judgement Call for the competition in North Carolina. He was bred by Nellie and Bobby Cox of Rose Retreat Farm in Goochland, VA. The Cox family primarily breeds racehorses, but they also produce show hunters and jumpers. In 2002, they bred a pinto mare named Pinto Bean to Judgement, and in April 2003, Judgement Call was born. The colt was sold as a weanling to Elizabeth Lukes who lives in Wake Forest, NC. Lukes paired Judgement Call with Jakubauskas for training.

Another Judgement son, Artesian, has also been collecting big prizes. The two-year-old colt, owned by DG Bar Ranch in California and bred by Natalie Bryant, claimed the Region VII Great American/United States Dressage Federation Two-Year-Old Colt/Gelding Championship with 83.90%. Artesian also finished second in the KWPN-NA Jumper Two-Year-Old Colts/Gelding Final Five awards.

Judgement ISF has represented the U.S. at the WEG and on 10 Nations Cup Teams. His lifetime earnings exceed $1.5 million.
