Lexington, KY – The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. are teaming up in an innovative campaign to support U.S. equine athletes in their push to the 2008 Olympic Games. Luitpold has generously agreed to provide Adequan® i.m. (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) joint therapy for these horses on their quest for gold at this summer’s Olympic Games in Hong Kong. Adequan® is “The Official Joint Therapy of the USEF”.
Going well beyond their usual level of support of the USEF, Luitpold has made a commitment to helping ensure the soundness and well-being of the equine athletes on the road to Hong Kong. Luitpold is providing its product to 30 horses in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games. The horses will receive treatment based on careful observation by U.S. Team Veterinarians, Dr. Brendan Furlong (Eventing), Dr. Richard Mitchell (Dressage), and Dr. Tim Ober (Jumping).
“The USEF is very grateful for Luitpold's continued support of all the USEF programs. This year Adequan® is playing an important part in the preparation of the horses heading to the 2008 Olympic Games,” said USEF CEO John Long. “The health and well being of the horses aiming for the Olympic Games is paramount and incorporating Adequan® into their program is a valuable tool to helping ensure our success.”
“The Olympic Games are the most prestigious event for both rider and horse. It is our desire to provide Adequan® i.m. for all of the athletes in each discipline and give them the most complete treatment available for any potential joint injuries that may occur during their strenuous ongoing trials,” said Luitpold’s Allyn Mann. “We are very excited to have the opportunity to support the United States Equestrian Federation and the U.S. Olympic Team. We wish all the horses, riders, and owners much success in Hong Kong.”
Luitpold is providing a total of 805 doses (115 boxes) of Adequan® i.m. to the horses that will represent the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games this summer, a valuable contribution to the USEF’s High Performance programs.
