Thunderbird Show Park and the Washington State Hunter and Jumper Association have teamed together to create a new hunter/jumper circuit named the Northwest Summer Circuit. The circuit includes the Evergreen Classic, the Thunderbird Summer Classic and the Thunderbird Summer Festival.
The Evergreen Classic will be held at Remlinger Farms Equestrian Park in Carnation, WA, from August 6-10. The Thunderbird Summer Classic is scheduled from August 13-17 at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, British Columbia, just a two-hour drive from Carnation. The final event of the circuit will be the Thunderbird Summer Festival from August 20-24, and also held at Thunderbird Show Park.
This new three-week circuit will offer over $200,000 in grand prix prize money. All the grand prix events will take place on grass turf. There will also be two $10,000 International Hunter Style Challenge Derby Classics held on grass. In addition, there will be many other special classes offering great prize money and two of the three shows will be “AA” rated World Champion Hunter Rider events. As an incentive for riders to compete in all three shows, there will be $20,000 in bonus money offered—$10,000 to the top jumper riders and $10,000 to the top hunter riders.
“This new circuit here in the Northwest is just fantastic for the region’s hunters and jumpers. The show venues are beautiful and the prize money is significant. We anticipate drawing quite the collection of talented horses and riders to these shows,” said Caroline Jones, Competition Manager for the Evergreen Classic.
