2004 Olympic Silver medalist Kim Severson is teaming up with the Equestrian Land Conservation Resource (ELCR), Breyer and Bit of Britain to promote the conservation of land for horses and horse-related activity. Severson will be signing the ELCR Breyer benefit model at Practical Horseman’s booth in the Sponsor Village on Thursday or Friday of Rolex. Announcement of the exact time for the autograph session will come on Wednesday once Severson learns her riding time for the dressage portion of this year’s Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. The announcement will be posted on ELCR’s website at www.elcr.org, at the Bit of Britain and Practical Horseman booths in the Sponsor Village.
“With the land loss rate of 250 acres per hour, it is important that we get the attention and action of every horseman. To have the support of a distinguished rider such as Kim Severson is significant. Kim understands the issue and is willing to help raise awareness of its importance. We are grateful,” said Deb Balliet, ELCR’s CEO.
A limited number of the ELCR Breyer benefit models will be available for sale at the Bit of Britain booth in the Sponsor Village. Models are also available at Breyer retail outlets.
Breyer has committed a minimum of $10,000 from the proceeds of the limited edition model to fund grants to protect land for equestrian use. ELCR will accept applications for the grants until midnight September 1, 2008. Grant applications and application information are available online at www.elcr.org.
