Lexington, KY – Rich Fellers and Peter Wylde lead the American charge through the second round of the Rolex FEI Final in Goteborg, Sweden on April 25. Moving up from their first round placings, Fellers and Flexible and Wylde and Esplanade lay in second and third place overall respectively.

Five horses jumped clean in the first round, and three repeated that feat in the jump-off. Ireland’s Jessica Kurten and Castle Forbes Libertina was the fastest of the trio completing the jump-off in 36.91 seconds, giving her the two-day lead. Wylde jumped up the leader board on the strength of this performance with Louisburg Farm’s Esplanade stopping the clock at 37.21 seconds.

Oregon rider Rich Fellers had a rail down in the jump off with Harry and Mollie Chapman’s Irish Sport Horse stallion but his time was good enough for fourth in the second leg one point behind Wylde.

“I’m pleasantly surprised,” said Fellers who was West Coast League winner.

Nine of the 10 Americans who made the trip to the World Cup Final qualified for the third round – something Chef d’Equipe George Morris was very pleased about.

To top off the evening California rider Richard Spooner won the last class of the night riding Pako. The 11-year-old KWPN gelding was nearly a second faster than second place finisher Malin Baryard-Johnsson.

The third and final leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup Final is on Sunday April 27 at 1 p.m. local time.
