The final week of the Aiken Spring Classic was win-win for Daniel Geitner of the Aiken-based DFG Stables. At the Aiken Finale, which concluded at the Highfields Events Center on Sunday, Geitner led the victory gallop in this week’s highlight event, the $30,000 Carolina Real Estate Co. Grand Prix, as well as both Young Jumper Championships.

Riding the Rhinelander mare Sympa, owned by Mrs. Charles Bostwick, Geitner bested 13 horse-and-rider teams in Sunday’s Grand Prix. He also placed seventh in the class with Kyle Register’s Trading Places.

“She just gets better and better,” said Geitner of the nine-year-old mare, “she’s really come along beautifully.”

Earlier, Geitner—for the second consecutive week—piloted Damocles, owned by Janet Peterson, to top honors in the $5,000 Young Jumper Championship Five-Year-Old division, and rode Acorino, owned by Frederick Schofield, to first-place honors in the $5,000 Young Jumper Championship Seven-/Eight-Year-Old class. Acorino also collected the Young Jumper Challenge Trophy.

Other accolades for Geitner this week included: Champion, Level 4 Jumpers with Arnold Bloom’s Clover Hill’s Silver Lining; Champion, Aiken County Hunter with Anne Chappell’s Ready to Rumble; Champion, Limited Hunter with Lisa Linehan’s Free Falling; and Reserve Champion, Baby Green Hunters with Brenda MacKay’s Fracas.
