The American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) summer continuing education meetings—Focus on the First Year of Life and the 16th annual Practice Management Seminar—will be held July 27-29 in Austin, TX, at the Hilton Austin. Attendees can participate in both meetings’ sessions for one registration fee.
The topic of this year’s Focus meeting is the foal’s first year of life. Attendees will be presented with advanced research and state-of-the-art techniques in foal care. Featured topics include neurological and genetic disorders, limb deformities and ultrasonography, as well as caring for the critically ill foal and fracture management. Focus is sponsored by AAEP Educational Partner Bayer Healthcare–Animal Health Division.
The Practice Management Seminar will address the challenging business issues that practitioners face on a daily basis. Sessions will examine how to analyze the economic performance of a veterinary practice as well as best practices for screening prospective employees and employment law in both the large- and small-practice setting. The seminar schedule features interactive breakout sessions for participants to share case studies. The Practice Management Seminar is sponsored by AAEP Educational Partner Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc.
In addition to continuing education for veterinarians, the summer meetings will offer an educational day for horse owners. The Healthy Horses Workshop, to be held on Saturday, July 26, features AAEP-member veterinarians addressing popular topics in equine medicine. Famed trainer Monty Roberts will lecture during the workshop's morning session.
