Anglo-Arabian Colt Raffle to Benefit Sport Horse Nationals Payback Program

by By Peggy Ingles | Jun 4, 2008, 4:23 PM

A 2007 registered Anglo-Arabian colt is being raffled off as a benefit for the Sport Horse Nationals Payback Program.

Willis and Karin Foley of Solar Hill Sport Horses in Orange, VA, have generously donated their homebred colt, known as SH Deseo, to the program to show their support for this ground-breaking program. He is sired by CW Soxx and is out of Hips and Haws.

“We totally support a program like this that rewards excellence in sport horse breeding.” said Karin Foley. “We are just putting our money where our mouths are.”

Solar Hill are longtime breeders of sport horses and ponies and stand the Welsh Cob stallion Quillane Orbit, Arabian CW Soxx, and junior Arabian stallion SOLARO S.

Anglo-Arabians are the third oldest breed in the world, having been bred in France as far back as the early 1800’s. The breed is comprised of a combination of Thoroughbred and Arabian blood, requiring no more than 75% Thoroughbred and no less than 25% Arabian to be registered. Anglo-Arabians are highly respected worldwide as exceptional athletes, especially in the Olympic disciplines, and are ranked second in the world in the sport of eventing.

Tickets are $50 each or five for $200. The winner will be drawn at Sport Horse Nationals in September. The proceeds will go towards the prize money pool to be awarded there.
