Susan Dutta enjoyed a successful weekend at the Gold Coast May Dressage show. Dutta won the Prix St. Georges with an impressive score of 74.250% on Currency DC and placed second in the same class on Manette DC with a 68.500%. Michele Hundt, co-owner of the dressage boutique, Sho Clothes, was on hand to present Dutta with the custom-made engraved whip for the Prix St. Georges High Score Award.
Sho Clothes has been a strong supporter of FEI Small Tour classes. The Sho Clothes Prix St. Georges High Score Award is another demonstration of the company’s desire to recognize the talented riders that compete at this difficult level. “Success at this level holds a special meaning for us,” said Michele Hundt. “Betsy Rebar Sell, my business partner and co-owner of Sho Clothes, won a Gold medal at the 1999 Pan American Games.” Coincidently, Dutta, winner of this season’s last signature Sho Clothes high-score award whip, was a member of the Gold-medal team at the 2007 Pan American Games.
Dutta was delighted to win the signature whip. The win marks continued accomplishments for Currency DC. The eight-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by the Dutta Corporation has been extremely successful in the young horse divisions. In 2005, Currency DC was ranked 11th in the FEI World Breeding Championships in the five-year-old division. Of Currency DC and their recent win, Dutta said, “He has always been a talent. This was a big score, and it gave me a lot of confidence. Hopefully we can build on it.”
Previous Sho Clothes winners this season include Michelle Gibson, Shannon Dueck, Kristy Lund, Janne Rumbough, Mindy Elgart, Jane Springer, and two-time winner, Lisa Wilcox. Photos of the high-scoring winners are displayed on the Wall of Fame in the Sho Room, located in Wellington’s Fashion District on Fairlane Farms Road. For more information, visit www.shoclothes.com.
