Saddlebred Futurity Weanling Payments and Foal Registration Grace Period Deadline is June 25

by By Jessica Fisher | Jun 16, 2008, 3:08 PM

Foals showing in the Kentucky & Kentucky Amateur Futurity Weanling Divisions must have applications for registration received in the American Saddlebred Registry office on or before Wednesday, June 25 by 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. No exceptions. A rush fee of $50 will be assessed for any such applications received June 26 or thereafter. The added fee will be billed to the applicant and will be due and payable immediately. This is to ensure a conditional registration number is assigned by the Kentucky State Fair post entry closing date, which is July 7, 2008. For an application for registration, visit www.asha.net/files/registrationform.pdf.

DNA kits for foals and/or sire or dam conversions may be preordered with a Visa or Mastercard. The following information will be needed to submit a request: Name and registration number of the sire and dam; foaling year; sex of foal; and the name and address where kit(s) should be sent. Please contact Katriona Adams at (859) 259-2742, ext.324, or e-mail [email protected]. DNA or blood testing results must be received in the American Saddlebred Registry office prior to August 15, 2008. No foal will be allowed to show with a conditional registration number.

Weanling payments for all futurities (Kentucky, Kentucky Amateur and National Three-Year-Old) are also due by Wednesday, June 25 to maintain eligibility, even if the weanling is not showing. All Futurity payments must be made to maintain eligibility.

In 2007, the Kentucky Futurity awarded $96,308 and the Kentucky Amateur Futurity awarded $38,297 in prize money in the weanling, yearling and two-year-old divisions. The National Three-Year-Old Futurity distributed a total of $138,059 in prize money in its four classes last year.
