Equestrian World Tsunami Fund

by By the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) | Jan 20, 2005, 10:26 AM

The Equestrian World Tsunami Fund will primarily focus on building schools, orphanages and medical facilities in Aceh (Indonesia). Aceh was selected because it is the worst hit area and more hundreds of thousands have lost everything and tens of thousands of children are now orphans.

The Fund will be used for a long-term action besides building and equipping these facilities; in addition, their maintenance and upkeep will be ensured.

The Executive Council for the KLGP Equestrian World Tsunami Fund has been set up and it comprises the following members:

Chairman : YABhg Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia and Patron of the KL Grand Prix Members
- YBhg Tan Sri Musa Hitam, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and former President of the Equestrian Association of Malaysia
- HRH The Infanta Doña Pilar de Borbón, President of the Federation Equestre Internationale
- Susan Jane Anstey, President of the International Association of Equestrian Journalists (IAEJ)
- Cayetano Martinez de Irujo, President of the International Jumping Riders Club

Equestrian organisations that have committed their support and cooperation for this worth cause are the FEI, IAEJ, International Jumping Riders Club, BCM, En Garde Marketing, Escon Marketing, PSI and PST.

A dedicated website www.equestrian-tsunami-fund.org has been created for this initiative and contains information and regular updates on the donation drive and the progress of the proposed projects. It will also have a listing of our Partners in Aid, List of Donors, the Executive Council and a forum.

Well wishers from the equestrian world can pledge their donations right now and they can do it on the Fund's website.
