Lexington, KY - One of two Eventing Mandatory Outings gets underway at Barbury Castle July 4-6. Short Listed riders for the 2008 Olympic Games had a choice to run their horses in the Barbury Castle CIC*** this weekend or at a Mandatory Outing July 11-12 at The Fork Stables in Norwood, NC.

Karen O’Connor, Gina Miles, Amy Tryon and Clark Montgomery chose the former and will test their skills against more than 100 of the world’s top horses and riders.

Tryon did her dressage today with Poggio who is a veteran of the 2002 and 2006 World Equestrian Games and the 2004 Olympic Games. The 16-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, owned by Mark Hart and Greg and Amy Tryon, scored 47.7 in today’s test.

Montgomery, 27, has spent most of the spring in Europe with Up Spirit. The 9-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding, owned by Montgomery and Holly and William Becker had a slight interruption in his test when the long side of the ring blew over in the wind. The pair recovered to score 51.0.

O’Connor and Mandiba and Miles and McKinlaigh will do their dressage tests on Saturday, and Tryon will return to the ring with Leyland.
