Tyler Morris moved to Aiken, SC, from Lafayette, NJ, where he trained with Robin Fairclough of Newton, NJ, and Top Brass Farm in 2007, when he transferred to Aiken County Pony Club. He represented the Carolina Region at the United States Pony Clubs Show Jumping Championships in Lexington, KY, last year and this year in Lexington, VA, July 24-27, 2008. And he won the Vieva Perrin Memorial Award for Horsemanship both years.

This perpetual trophy is given in memory of one of the founders of Somerset Hills Pony Club in Gladstone, NJ, and is awarded annually to the rider in the regular division who best exemplifies the classical principles of horsemanship and the “American Jumping Style.” Morris made history last year by being the first boy to receive this award. And this year, he made history again by receiving the award for the second time. No other person has accomplished this in consecutive years, and this time it was in the highest division (four-foot) at the USPC Championships.

Mrs. Perrin, an avid foxhunter, would have been pleased to know that Morris also shares her passion. Tyler was awarded his colors as a junior member of the Windy Hollow Hunt in NJ and also hunted with Essex Hounds at the permission of Ms. Alexander Allen, MFH, and now is pleased to be a member of Whiskey Road Foxhounds in Aiken, SC.

Morris trains currently with Richard Lamb and shows and competes with DFG Stables and Daniel and Cathy Geitner of Aiken, SC. He can be seen often at Highfields, Rich Cram’s facility, in Aiken showing and enjoying all Aiken has to offer.
