Tickets for the 50th anniversary of the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) are now on sale. The WIHS is the highlight of the equestrian calendar and one of the most prestigious competitions in North America. It features the top hunters and jumpers, including Olympic champions, competing for more than $400,000 in prize money. The event will take place Tuesday through Sunday, October 21-26, 2008, at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
Two sessions are held daily Tuesday though Saturday and one session will be held on Sunday. Datime competition begins at 7:00 a.m. and concludes by 5:00 p.m. Evening performances start at 7:00 p.m. and run through approx. 10:30 p.m. On Sunday, competition will run from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, WIHS and Autism Speaks will host a special event, Day of Champions, showcasing therapeutic riding. There is no charge for this event.
