Morgan Wins at Big E and Makes Morgan History

by By the American Morgan Horse Association | Sep 24, 2008, 11:37 AM

Nineteen-year-old Western Star Galaxy (Georgetown Starlight x Cedarvale Splendora) won big at last week's Eastern States Exposition Big E Horse Show in West Springfield, MA. In a class of nine, "Alex" won the New England Horseman's Council's Junior Western Reining Seat Medal Finals with Stephanie Miranda of Assonet, MA, in the saddle. Alex is the only Morgan to ever win the finals to date.

Owned by Michelle Cravenho of Kingston, MA, Alex was the only Morgan in the class that included Paints, Pintos, Appaloosas and Quarter Horses. He won both phases unanimously by both judges, as well as the warm-up classes offered to the juniors from the Big E judge.

Alex has done it all—from hunter paces and parade to road hack, English and hunter pleasure, and everything in between. He truly has overcome the odds and doesn't want to quit. Just this year, he already has been awarded three high-point Morgan awards from the Hanson Riding Club show circuit.
