The last stop on the 2008 National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) Regional Clinic Series, a one-on-one training clinic series for all ages, is scheduled for October 11-12 at the Outwest Stallion Station in Scottsdale, AZ. National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Professionals Randy Paul and Matt Mills will provide their training tips to participants from the Southwest Region and across the United States.
NRHyA Regional Clinics include top reining professionals at each event. The Scottsdale clinic is no exception with the clinicians being Randy Paul and Matt Mills. Paul has earned nearly $1 million in the reining pen, including wins in the NRHA Futurity Open and the NRHA Derby. Mills, a multiple NRHA Futurity and Derby finalist, was a member of the United States team who took the Gold medal at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games.
This is the third year the NRHyA has organized regional clinics, which are designed to help anyone who is interested in reining horses learn more about reining and also about the NRHA. From beginners to accomplished riders, there is something for everyone to benefit from within each clinic. The one-on-one training that participants receive is tailored to each individual’s needs and provides a unique opportunity to work with many NRHA Professionals.
Chair of the NRHA Youth Committee Walter Fuchs is a staunch supporter of the program because it not only benefits reining enthusiasts, but it also benefits the NRHyA and its programs for youth reiners. “The regional clinics have grown a great deal since the inception of the program in 2006. That year, the NRHyA hosted one clinic, but in 2008, six clinics were scheduled to be held across the country. We are working very hard to raise money for the youth program as well as educate people around the world about reining.” In 2007, the Regional Clinic Series raised about $20,000 for the NRHyA.
Space is limited, so sign up as soon as possible. The cost is $250 for adults, $150 for youth and $25 for those who wish to watch and learn without a horse. For more information or to register for a clinic, please contact Brian Bendele at (405) 946-7400 or [email protected].
