World Class Appaloosas Offer Free Family Entertainment

by By Karisa Saywers | Oct 1, 2008, 3:23 PM

Get ready for the ride of a lifetime as Appaloosas and exhibitors from throughout the world gather to compete for prestigious World Championship titles at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, TX, October 24-November 1.

Bring the entire family to watch exceptional Appaloosas demonstrate their versatile skills and abilities in 164 classes. From reining and cutting to pleasure riding and halter, Appaloosas are found in every discipline.

The competition in the classes is certainly something to see, but don’t miss the special Appaloosa events and performances that will take place during the nine-day event. Spectators can look forward to the excitement of the uniquely Appaloosa Rope Race, the World Championship Appaloosa Sale, the Toys for Tots Benefit and the incredibly popular freestyle reining class.

The following Wednesday, October 29, offers the Rope Race and the opportunity to select your next World Champion Appaloosa. The Rope Race, sponsored by SR Gold, is an exciting competition loosely based on a favorite childhood game, musical chairs. Watch riders and their Appaloosas battle for a championship title in this fun and friendly competition. After all of the thrills in the show ring, stop by the James L. & Eunice West Sale Arena to view more than 90 quality Appaloosas available for purchase at the 2008 World Championship Appaloosa Sale. Preview the horses prior to the sale Tuesday, October 28 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Watt Arena.

Spend Halloween with the ApHC as it hosts a Toys for Tots Benefit at 6 p.m. This special event is held in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps. Make a local child’s holiday season a little brighter, and donate a new toy or cash as admission to the freestyle reining performances. Freestyle reining is always a crowd favorite, as exhibitors and Appaloosas showcase their unique routines with costumes and music.
