Record Broken at National Reining Horse Association/Markel Insurance Futurity Prospect Sale

by By Christa Morris | Dec 11, 2008, 9:08 AM

The gavel fell with a resounding boom at the 2008 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA)/Markel Insurance Futurity Prospect Sale in Oklahoma City, OK, on December 6. The $240,000 winning bid was the largest purchase price ever witnessed at an NRHA sale. Hip 3023, Peppy Superboom, was purchased by The Bucket List Syndicate.

Peppy Superboom was consigned by Schmersal Reining Horses, who also consigned the top-selling horse in the NRHA/Markel Insurance Marketplace Sale. The 2006 sorrel colt is by NRHA Open Futurity Champion and NRHA Top 15 All-Time Leading Sire Boomernic. The 1989 stallion earned $113,128 and has sired the earners of more than $1.5 million, including Commanders Nic, NRHA Open Derby Reserve Champion; MR Boomerjac, NRBC Open Derby Champion; and Boom Shernic, Congress Open Reining Futurity Reserve Champion. Peppy Superboom is out of the Peppy Badger Chex mare Peppy Designed. Peppys Boomernic will remain at Schmersal Reining Horses to continue with the one-year of training he has thus far.
